The crankshafts installed in generators and automobiles are mostly constructed of modular cast iron and are induction hardened for preventing wear and tear.

Other materials used for making crankshafts are:

1. steel (hardened and tempered steel such as ASTM1045, AISI5140, AISI4135, AISI4140; Non-quenched and tempered steel such as 48MnV、C38N2、49MnVS3、43MnVS、38MnSiV; ),

2. pearlitic nodular iron(100-70-03, 120-90-02, 800-6, 900-2, 900-5)

Our materials strengthen processing techniques include:

1. surface-hardened by induction, to increase materials bending fatigue limit to 80% for forging steel and 20% for modular cast iron.

2. Fillet rolling after semi- finish machining, can enhance materials bending fatigue limit up to 80% for forging steel and 100% for modular cast iron.

3. Nitridation, may reinforce materials bending fatigue limit up to 30~60% for forging steel and 20~40% for modular cast iron.

However, lean manufacturing focuses on the removal of waste, as the superb performance of fillet rolling technique, and the high energy consumption, low efficient and pollution of nitridation technique, our company is introducing more fillet rolling equipment instead of nitridation.
