Nowadays, many mechanical studies of connecting rod aim to explore weight and cost reduction opportunities. Consequently, some good ideas which are based on theoretical, rules of thumb, or even instinctive imaginary from our engineering staff always would be encouraged and tested by an effective procedure.

Before putting those diversiform into further study, we focus on dynamic loads such as bending loads and inertia loads and the magnitude of the loads. As dynamic loads should be incorporated directly during design as the design loads; and it is important to consider bending stresses during designing although they barely exist at the piston end; meanwhile, multiaxial fatigue is needed to determine for its strength is high. Some approaches and FEA are used during the talking.

If the idea is doored to an optimization, conclusions can be drawn and kicked to production department to optimize the current connection rod and reduce the manufacturing costs. Production department would confirm the conclusion and make a plan for trial and pass the plan to engineering staff, marketing and sales department. Eventually, Inspection department would have a new standard which is subjected to customers’ feedback.

Sales department will contact with the customer about the optimization, and this is by far the best plan our customers would like to receive.
