Depends on the customer’s equipment specification and working environment, two advanced insulation packages (with 1” and 2” thickness) were produced for thermal testing. Tests performed at about 1260^oC for the thinner insulation blankets and at 1600^oC for the thicker ones.

During material screening from a number of alternatives a total of 6 insulation materials, 2 cover screening materials, 2 needled hot structures and 2 seal materials. We selected some competing materials ThermTek and HeatPro for lower temperature applications; Hz1600 and Hz3000 for high temperature low cost alternative internal layer on the same design objective. Vibration endurance test was also set up.

The test showed that as substantiated by the high temperature thermal cycling and the second loop of the vibration tests, a substitution of HeatPro fabric by ThermTek cloth was excluded. The test results indicated some superiority of Hz1600 over Hz3000, particularly under vibration resistance, humidity, and cost efficiency. From previous test DTe600 is found to provide the better choice than JKe800 fibers taking into account resilience and safety aspects.

The test results have got approving from our customer and the production has started.
